Living in the PRK it's common to have the more "politically acceptable" Russians, plenty of SKS's and Mosins running around, but AK's are harder to come by.

Also, you generally pay the "california premium" (read: WAY above market)

However, everyone should have an AK, IMHO, so I finally bit the proverbial bullet and shelled out for one this morning, a nice looking Romanian on a Nodak receiver. I feel like I've reached some gun owner "rite of passage" LOL, but I can hardly wait my ten days to get that sucker up to the range.

As a Bonus, while I was out goofing off I picked up a Smith M1917 on the cheap, can never say no to a .45 wheelgun. Yay!

I must have missed something, I thought for some reason there was a 10rnd mag limit on all firearms in kali.

I think they have a "pre-ban" system like NY state does

Look at the magazine latch. Some sort of bullet button type of deal. Have to use tools to remove the magazine?

Yes it's called a raddlock and it opens with a tool called a bullet button

Ha, that's ironic, AK-47's hard to come by in the People's Republic of **********, I'd of figured it would've been added to their flag by now........oh wait, that's the "change we can believe in" slogan they really wanted on it instead.

So they will allow them as long as its hard to get the mags in and out? Looks like the kali people should buy up the 100 rd drums.

We can't do that either. It's not illegal to possess a standard cap mage here in LaLa land, but it IS illegal to purchase, sell, manufacture, or import them. If you had them pre ban, they're still yours. Of course this all gets very muddy because the burden of proof is on the state, and who knows where the hell a mag comes from or when you had it, etc. Of course if the state is already on your case, the magazine capacity is the least of your worries.

The Magazine lock allows the weapon to have a pistol grip. No pistol grip, and you can have a removable magazine (10 rd max). So on and so forth, the game of CA's "AWB", such as it is.

The 30 rounder in the picture is actually a 10/30 that came with weapon. It's been modified to hold only 10 rounds so that it could be transferred. Someday I'll move back to America, but for now, this is what we got.

Wow couldn't they have did something to make the laws a bit more confusing for ya out in California. Never had anyone ask to see ID to buy a magazine on the east coast, just saying.

So if it is modded to only hold 10 out of 30 to be transferred, could you un-mod it to hold 30 assuming you wouldn't be transferring it or would that be considered manufacturing one?

I'm not trying to be an ass its just amazing what kind of restrictions they have. On the opposite coast here in SC, I bought my AK at a local hardware store that sells guns. Filled out standard 1.5 page paperwork for ATF, they called background in, signed form, paid the money, walked out the door with it and 2 30 rd mags in less than 45 min.
