You can see the thread of a screw that you should not, because the bridle is broken.............

I'm not seeing a broken bridle, but I am wondering what screws hold the locks on. I don't see anything but the ends of screws on either side of the lock where they would normally show.

On a single lock pistol, you see the screw head on the other side.

Since I don't read French (We sent you folks to Canada somewhere in the 1700's you know, and then got stuck with/by the English :neener:) I don't know whether you bought this gun and were showing it in the French language forum.

The Doc is out now.

If the gun has a problem, all they have to do is email Pete and mail it in and Middlesex will fix it. They more or less have a lifetime guarantee on the locks as long as you aren't the culprit.

The rear trigger on my Double barreled caplock wasn't heat treated properly, so it was acting funky. Both barrels would go off sometimes and sometimes the hammer wouldn't lock because the trigger was bent so the sears wouldn't reset. I emailed them and sent it in on Thursday, it was on my doorstep on Tuesday, working just fine.

That's good to know about Middlesex. I have almost bought from them a few times. Talked to them on the phone, real nice folks.

hello,

There has been some progress on the pistol :

- new bridles have been made and adjusted (see photos)
- all (6) springs have been grinded to weaken them and made action smoother
- the trigger block was not strongly inletted hence a bedding was necessary
- a bead sight was added
- all steel pieces are blued (permablue)

It shoots correctly ( 35gr BP and 560 patched ball) and it reaches occasionally the target at 25m !

A lot of adjustment and reinforcement was necessary to make this pistol shoot but now it works (much better than the PD Harper Ferry !!)

I had poor sparks so I have glued a piece of steel (warmed to cherryred and dropped into the water) on the frizzen :

Now it sparks very well.

I shot at 25 meters but only touch the target occasionally so I got to 8 meters :

35gr BP, 30gr cornmeal and 560 patched ball

- holes circled have been shot from 25 m

- holes with triangular have been shot from 8 meters with the left barrel

- holes with square have been shot from 8 meters with the right barrel

Obviously the barrels are "cross-shooting" !!!

I have a Howdah. I found that it shot best with .32 cal balls. Have you done any tests with shot or buckshot?

I had One problem. When I got it all tuned up and ready to go, I realized that all of the tigers are in India!

I've used #7 birdshot, #1 Buckshot, and a .60" patched ball in my MVCT percussion double pistol.

I could hunt tigers in Memphis, but the zoo would be upset. :)

I just picked one of these up but have yet to play with it. .58 double, what size flints are you using? I have to sift through my supply and see what fits, Pete is a great guy and will help you if there is a problem.
