Hello friends and neighbors// Today, I have an opportunity.

638 no key did not happen. I waited too long .
Today I am going to look at and purchse either:

Pre key;442 airweight Like new in box. For $399.00 No Key.105667

With Key; 442 aiweight. NIB for $429.00

I realise this is a personal decision but value experienced input on quality of new /old construction.
This is a hefty purchase for me but I think a lighter revolver than my all purpose 586 is worth it.

If it were me, it would be easy, save $30 and have a nice piece without the hole. It took me a while to decide how I felt about the hole, and given the choice, I would go without it, for asthetic reasons mainly. Enjoy whatever YOU choose.

Ditto, LNIB 442 with no lock would have been my recommendation. Let us know how it works out!

Yep, no hole won out as pictured above. Clean as a whistle .
I much perfer the black 442 to the gray 638 also.( 638 prices were best until this 442 came up)
Lucky catch for me, been a 3 month process./// Renting , seeing whats available locally (changes daily ). Saving pennies.
Posting here sp101 vs 686 ::::bear71::: and others lead me to J=frames.
Experience lead me to .38+p over .357 ;- )

I really got what I wanted for a fair price.

I should also give a nod to : Sticky ; Revolver check out. This has definately upgraded my knowledge and comfort with buying used firearms.

In retrospect, the only thing I would add (for future buyers looking at this question as it seems to come up in one form or another repeatedly) is just make sure the gun is in good shape, as it is an aluminum frame. But these seem to hold up pretty well (442/642).

Good choice overall! My 442 is one of my most useful and most used guns. Enjoy.
