Local shop has a 85 -90% K38 with a small nick out of the grip near the hump, worn but nice Diamond Magna grips. Price is $225 with a holster, came in from some 85 year old guy who said he bought it new and now he was done with it. 6" barrel

SN K99912x
edit ooops!!! should be SN# k99xxx, which would put it 1950

What bbl length? No matter what, it sounds in the correct realm to me. If interested, I'd try to get it for $200, tax included. Good luck - K38s are great.

I'd probably offer $200 but be prepared to go up to the asking price. It sounds good.

Don't have my references here, but the diamond-relief was disco'd in 1968. Not likely a '70 model came with 'em.

Dr Saxonpig was correct for the 1970s date for the original serial number but I edited it the the right SN as k991xx not k9991xx

Looks like a fair price.

Curious...is it double action or single action only ?

I paid $300 for a mid 60s 6" version in about 99% condition - no finish wear except a fait ring on the cylinder - no visible wear on the lockwork - the part on the back of the cylinder was still machined sharp.

Why oh why did I get rid of it?

My M&P 1905 4th at Cabela's will wait a month longer.
