Well, have been tossing the idea of makign my '55 into a early Richmond and have decided will build me a brand spanking new richmond 3 band musket once I get back to work......eventually ;) My problem is my current 55 has the wrong sites etc for the way its marked. SO I could easily have the locked remarked and dated 1861 and Harpers Ferry and add a patchbox. ANybody hear, could you recomend someone to do this for me if I paid them and supplied the patchbox? Thanks, Craig

yea go to the N-SSA Board and ask. Do not know who will do the work for you. But John Holland and others can tell you anything you want to know. John also Has sheets w/ all the correct dimensions and parts needed.

James River Armory can restamp your lock plate or sell you a new one with the marking you want. I Had them do 2 locks for me, Both were for a 1841 Musket. One I had marked Harpers Ferry (came out great) the other I had stamped with the "Palmeto Armory" sent that one back, looked like it came from china with every letter a differant size and the Palm tree was stamped at an angle so the depth was not uniform.
Even though I was not happy with the one lock, I did get my money back and a fresh 1841 lock plate, so all was not lost, I use the Harpers Ferry plate on my 1841 and keep the standard plate as a spare in case I ever want to have it re stamped with another armory. Which reminds me I have an extra Richmond Lock plate floating around somewhere in my house.
