the original peep is gone and i'm look'n for information on a replacement.
i've got a few feelers out to williams, talley and others. its been 2 weeks and have not had any responce.

I didn't know that the J. Stevens "Springfield 84C-" had a peep sight. Mine is a regular rear notch sight that's on the barrel. Numrich e-gun parts didn't list a peep sight either.

I'm interested to see what the peep sight for this rifle looks like.

i have read many places about the 84c to have a
3 sight setup. front and rear barrel sight and a rear reciever
left side mounted peep. the holes are d&t for the peep
also the front barrel site has a hood...
this model was made it the late 30's to mid 40's.

anyway, this 84c is all original. and the fella that owns it has had it since the early 50's which was handed down from his father, the original owner.

also the history of this gun claims it to be a military training rifle.

if you search here and different forums, there is a lot of info on the 84c

i don't know how many variations of the 84c was offered. but i do remember seeing the peep on it many years ago when my friend and i were
squirrel hunting. it was and still is a tack-driver for sure!!!

another great thing about this 84c, its stamped short, long, and long rifle
unlike many bolt rimfires with clip mags made for long rifle only

and it cycles them all with ease....

thanks

Some were, some weren't. You'll find "US" or "US Property" or the like stamped into the barrel (mostly) on rifles that were procured by the services for training.
