I have a Parker Bros. side by side shot gun. It looks to be a 20 gauge. On the top of the barrel it says Parker Bros. Makers Meriden Conn. Titanic Steel.
Under the handle it it has what looks to be a serial number 170636 which matches the number under the stock that has Patd. May 7, 1901.
On the left side it has a dog (looks like a pointer) and on the right side looks like a dog as well (retriever?) On the bottom It has birds could be turkey, ducks, or pheasants. Any help on what this gun is worth would be appreciated.

Impossible to say with the information listed. Your best bet is to contact the Parker Collector's organization - http://www.parkerguns.org/

Register with your real name (their requirement) and the experts that are members there can help you. You will also need to be able to post clear pictures of different areas of the gun, and provide further info of stampings, etc inside the gun.

This gentlemen bought my Parker Bros from me and was very fair and honest. I feel very confident that he gave me at least market value for it, as I had it on gunbroker and did not get what he offered me for it.


Long answer:

In 2006 when I first started getting into guns, I bought a Parker Bros. shotgun at an auction. At the time I didnt even know what a Parker Bros was, all I knew was that I had a blue book that said some of them were worth 10's of thousands of dollars. Needless to say I was pretty excited when I bought it for 300 and something. Well it turns out, it was only worth about three or four hundred. As stated earlier, condition is everything. Generally true with most guns but especially with these old double barrels. Check out this guys website and give him a jingle if you are wanting to sell. He might do appraisals to, cant remember.

Ok, FredHunter - way to go! That is one nice gun. I (believe) it's a D grade (No. 3) made in 1915 and it's in beautiful, beautiful shape. Not the right recoil pad, but that's easily taken care of. The screws look untouched (very important) and it's absolutely beautiful. Definately ask the guys over at the Parker forum. Especially in 20 ga., you've got a treasure there!
