(No, Moderators, this really *is* revolver related...)
A few years back, my wife and I went to a neighborhood Hallowe'en party, costumes required and yes, I too would rather have had a root canal but I digress.
Chatting with a young woman dressed in a Western outfit, I checked out the "cap pistol" she had in her holster. Hmmmm, says I, that's a pretty real looking cap pistol so I asked her if I could look at it.
Darned if it weren't a Colt SAA in .45 Colt in really nice condition. It 'felt funny' and, upon checking it out, I found that somebody had filled the barrel with lead. (Sigh...) She told me that it belonged to her grandfather and he 'fixed it so it wouldn't shoot'. (And yes, the cylinders were not filled, an accident waiting to happen.)
I told her that she had something special and gave her the name of a good local gunsmith and recommended that she have it restored to the way it should be.
Never found out if she did or not... being a former Massachusetts resident, she was worried about getting a permit to do this. I told her welcome to New Hampshire, no permit necessary.
