Recently aquired a S&W Mod 51 with 3 1/2" barrel, diamond grips (numbered to gun) with square butt, in 95%-98% condition. No box or papers. serial #112xxx.

I would like to know DOB, approx. value, and any other info about this neat little gun.

Model 51, Manufactured from 1960 to 1974. 1965 ended with serial number 108087, 1969 ended with serial number 135464. If your grips have double diamonds then it was manufactured in 1968, single diamond, prior to 1968, I would guess 1967,. It's listed in excellent condition at 400 down to 100 in poor. Real world price, don't know. I do know S&W prices have gone up in the last year. Other than that , the rest of the information you have in your hand. 22 Mag, 3 1/2 inch pinned barrel, round or square grips, built on the J frame, adjusteable sights, should have the flat latch, and it is a very desirable little gun. Ideal for for a woods gun or hiking.
