i have always liked this pistol

none of the local dealers can get it...never seen it at a show....have not even seen a used one in 2 years

are these guns still being made....and if so...why are they not importing them in any quantity?

The P7M8 was in the 2002 catalog.

HK dealers are getting harder to find, though, since HK USA decided to shoot themselves in the foot with their assinine new marketing scheme a few years back.

It took me about 2 months by my new one came in in october 2002 date code. My understanding from a hk rep I talked to at the gun shop is that they only make batches of them once a year so one they are gone y ou have to wait until the next batch is made. Who knows how accurate that is. I paid around 1265 for mine plus I bought six extra mags at 45 a peice. But it is all off right now ar robar for np3.

I know a local dealer that waited almost 4 months to get the 2 he ordered. I'll bet they get more scarce until new ownership decides what they're going to do w/ the P7-line :(

Why the heck doesn't HK make more of these, they seem to fly right off the shelves every time I see them.

Because the USP has a much higher profit margin? ;)

Kahr carrier - you have gunshow in Nothern CA? I stopped going a couple years ago (in Southern CA) when they basically became accessory/clothing shows :(

When you say P7, do you mean P7M8, P7M13, or P7-PSP?

The M8's are much more numerous in the states. The PSP is much less common. The M8 has the typical HK mag release next to the trigger guard, the PSP is a heel release. The M13 is the double stack variety of the M8.

Check out parkcitiestactical.com and HKPRO.com

There are often P7's for sale there.

Wouldn't mind having another P7? I hope they're going to be made forever...heck, having a polymer backup P7 that doesn't heat up for like...$800 wouldn't be a bad deal, either.

I know where there are 3 P7's right now. One is a M13 for about 1299.00, the other is a used P7 for 899. And the other Dealer has a brand new P7 for 1250.00. I am in Washington State.

I have never had a problem locating a p7m8, whether used or new. Now the m13, and m10(.40 version), are another story, along with the PSP. I have yet to find either of them anywhere here in southern Michigan, even though I haven't intensely searched.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

A few monhs ago, here in Austin, I walked in one of the local gun stores to find 2 P7-PSPs sitting in the used guns display case. One had a bit more bluing worn off, but both appeared quite good internally. Less than $800 a piece. Had to pick one up for myself.

Sweet shooter, but danged if it don't get hot QUICK.

Only the H&K P7M8 is still in (limited) production. NIB P7M8 come from authorized H&K dealers.

The PSP & P7M13 have long since been discontinued.

Lots of the "NIB" P7s for sale aren't. Possibly a few 'safe queens', more likely 'LNIB' and most likely utter salesman BS.

The P7s just hold up very well, my P7M13 looks brand new. My PSP looks almost new.

Why are they sooooo expensive?????

Carlos
January 22, 2003, 02:29 AM
Because they are so Bad-***.

Got a shooting buddy who has owned at least three and WOW, what a gun.

Just outta my price range though.

I've always liked the P7, but the price has always scared me away. Well, today I got a P7 PSP in excellent condition for $650

I'm sooo excited!!!

Now I just have to find a place to get a couple more mags and find a good holster with a thumb strap (required by my dept.)

This is not correct. The m13 is still in production but is only sold to
LEOs (in the US) because of the magazines, but is still available to
civillians in Europe. It is still on the German HK
web page (http://www.heckler-koch.de/html/english/civil/01_pistols/01_15_index.html). I believe that the PSP has been discontinued though.

The PSP has been made in short production runs for its entire history. Unless HK threw out the tooling, it could easily go back into yet another short production run.

I recomend that you visit www.parkcitiestactical.com for the cult of the p7

In short and from my perspective(which I am sure others will add to):

Fixed barrel so increased accuracy
squeeze cocker gives exceptional factory trigger while it can be made instantly non fireable or fireable and safe. Basically a combination of a single action trigger pull in a manual safteyless design(like glock or a revolver). The best of both worlds.

Accurate, even for people who have never shot before. VERY safe way to carry, no question that you can disable the safety in a heartbeat. Extremely reliable.

And when I bought mine, a lot cheaper than today.

The P7M13 is available to the civilian market, just not the magazines. If you already have the magazines, or the secret password, you can take it out to the range.

Accurate, even for people who have never shot before.

Why is that?? I take new shooters and they do well with the P7, but only average with my Beretta and other autos...

Why do novice shooters do well with the P7?

I think it is because the p7 forces you to grip the gun. If a novice shooter holds it loosely it won't fire. I think this is the reason.

Lots of things make the P7 a fantastic gun. There are down sides to the weapon as well. The thread over at the P7BB is here:
http://www.parkcitiestactical.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=000387

It's an archived thread, and some of us have it bookmarked.

The PCT HK FAQ (enough acronyms for you?) is here: http://www.parkcitiestactical.com/pct_faq.htm

What do I think about it?
Compact, about the size of most 9's with 3.5" barrels, but with a 4.13" barrel.
All steel construction.
Feels good in the hand.
Arguably the safest gun around. Few other guns available go from hot, to safe so fast, or so naturally.
Accurate fixed barrels lend themselves to accuracy a lot more readily than other desings. 1911's this accurate cost a lot more.
Fast in two ways, getting it out of the holster and firing, due to the squeeze cocker, and in follow up shots. I've personally been amazed at how fast I can shoot this gun, I once thought I'd gone fullow auto, only to find that the gun is just THAT fast.

That's it for me. As far as 9mm guns go, I don't think there's one that better fills the role of concealed carry weapon. If I wanted a 9mm military weapon, I'd use the CZ-75B.

Getting scarer. Saw one for $1450 at Imbert & Smithers in San Carlos last week.

When did H&K start putting that legal text on the side of the gun? That's a newer development, correct?

They started putting the stupid warning in 2000.

I've got three P7's, but haven't shot the 9mm's in a long time. I'm just not a 9mm fan. I haven't been able to convince myself to get rid of them either.

My P7M10 is one of my favorite guns, just behind my Valtro. The Valtro takes the prize. The 45 ACP is easy to reload and I'm not worried about case strength.

These guns point nicely and with a fixed barrel, offer great accuracy. The external safeties and very nice triggers make for a wonderful line of handguns.
