I was just sent this pic of a recent car/lion accident from Bemidji MN. Large female hit at night near lake Isabella, right near the city of Bemidji.
Years ago, about 20, I was living in Mankato which is much farther south in central MN. and there was a story of a lady who had on repeated occasions caught sight of a large cat in the wood line near her home. The DNR officers had been notified but came away with inconclusive evidence, shortly after, the lady had been lucky enough to catch on film a pic of this creature, but the photo was poor and taken at too far a distance with fading light. Well, it seems the bears have friends now.:D
Just remember fellas' when your heading to the deer stand in the dark,,you may not be the only hunter in the woods...:eek:

They have been sighted in the Mankato area too, a couple took a picture of one by the river in St Clair where I live. The DNR says it must be picture of something else but they can't explain what.

Thats great, I think at the time I was there, 83-89, the first sighting/pic was from a lady in St. Peter, obviously they are breeding, it was thought at first a stray/sick animal or somebody's pet, but this is pretty conclusive with the history and evidence we have now.
