if not, at what " - number" do they become +P rated?

anything to look for when buying a used one?

also, when putting it into "full lockup", you have to dry fire it, correct? (no hammer to thumb down and all)

thanks

According to the 2 S&W employees I spoke to at a local shop a couple of years ago the ones marked 442-1 are +P rated. I'd bought a used 442-1 the week before and needed to know.

They were in the store as part of the yearly S&W promotion. Guns are on sale and they even bring in a custom shop gunsmith to do free tuneups and hand work. I can spend hours standing there watching him work.

what about the 042's? +P rated or not?

from what i understand, they were only made in '92, were all of the 642's and 442's +P rated then?
