I just ordered one of these itty, bitty knives (CRKT Model 2380) to put in a "survival kit in an Altoids can." Does anyone have one and any observations to share?

Similar to a form of knife I make.... If it's well made and properly HT'd (and I've had good experience with CRKT's), it should be a really serviceable little knife.
Small knives are much bigger tools than most people realize!
Nice looks to 'er.

Nope.
I have a few similar "Tin Knives" in O1 steel though. (Freebies included with a few of my other knives). I kept one and keep it in my hiking kit as a firesteel striker.
The other two went to my son. One for his Altoid fire kit, and one for the fire kit in his pack.
I don't keep a knife in my Altoids survival kit.It leaves more room for other stuff. Since if my pants are on I have a SAK and a Fixed on me.:)

I bought one on a whim, and I like it OK. I didn't need it, but it was cheap and seemed like it might be sort of neat. I was right, it is sort of neat. I don't specifically have a use for it, but it is a neat little knife for the collection. I doubt I will ever carry it in a survival tin. It actually carries pretty well in the pocket, though it will never replace any of my normal EDC pocket knives. Really, the nicest thing about it is that it is small enough that I can add an additional blade to any of my kit (fishing vest, upland vest, EDC bag, etc...) with virtually no cost in space or weight.
I would like to buy a quantity of that exact cord used on the knife, but am not sure what it is called outside of "Nylon Cord". Please help the dummy if you can!

Timbo, around here you find cord like that where Rock climbing gear is sold.
Try R.E.I. if there is one near you...

Sweet. How do you know what size it is? Is the mm just the cord diameter?

Good news! I received my CRKT RSK Mk5. It sure is small, but that's the idea.
Bad news! The sheath retains it very loosely, not securely enough that I would wear it around my neck since I'd rather not have to fish it out of my pants.
Good news! E-mailed Doug Ritter, who apologized and sent a link to a post on his forum noting that some of the sheaths are too loose and will be replaced free of charge but it will take some time (they are retooling to fix it). Called CRKT, they put me down for one, no worries.
So, down a star for a product with a problem, back up a star for good customer service.

Pretty easy to tighten up kydex depending on how/where it's loose, a hot air gun or even hot water and a small clamp should do the trick.
Glad to hear they are sending you a new one but in the meantime...
