Hey everyone,

I am new here and not a gun collector or hunter. My father was an avid hunter and he passed away. I am going through his things to sell them to help take care of my mother who is 100% disabled that I full time take care of. I have contacted a local gun store to buy his firearms but -being a girl- and not very knowledgeable on firearms I do not want to be ripped off. I have been searching the internet for prices on his guns. I have not been able to find any information on the value of a 12 gauge double barrell, double trigger shotgun- it is marked with Springfield- J.Stevens Arm Company, Chicopee Falls Mass. I understand that the company was named this before it changed the name to J.Stevens Arms and Tools Company, but I have exhausted the internet trying to find out how much this gun is worth. I am not in a position financially to pay different sites in hopes of finding out it's value. I would greatly appreciate if any gun collector's etc... on here would have at least a price range for me to go on. Thank you all so much!

Here's something similar; doesn't sound like the model you have but it's something to get started; someone with more knowledge on these particular shotguns should chime in shortly....

Thank you for your help. I do not have a pic of the gun as of yet- but I will see if I can get someone to upload one for me. I looked at the link you provided- thank you for taking the time to do that. I am not sure if it means this gun is older thought because it is still J.Stevens and Arms- before they added the Tool part to the company name.

Those Savage/Springfield/Stevens double guns were made for a mass market and sold at a moderate price. They were durable and fairly reliable were never on a par with the better shotguns. They have almost no collector interest and sell strictly as hunting guns. The average used price runs around $200, with one in new condition bringing maybe $300+.
