Well I am looking for a new CCW gun. I currently have a S&W 6946 - love the gun but the weight and size now bothers me. I bought a Kel-Tec P3AT this past summer, and love that. I don;t even know I have it with me :) So now that jacket weather is here, I went back to my old/winter gun the 6946. WOW! I don't like carrying it anymore, no mater what holster I use. So I am looking for something new - lighter weight and maybe smaller.

Here is what I am looking at:

Glock 26
Taurus PT111
Taurus PT709
Taurus PT145
Glock 30

Any other ideas/comments? Now my wife likes the Glock 26 and she can track the slide on that.

THANKS for any comments!

I have the PT745 wich is the single stack version of the PT145 and its a a great gun for the money.I think Kahr has the only other .45 thats just as small.
Mine disappears in my waistband, and have never had a malfunction.

The 709 is smaller and seems to be pretty reliable for a new model gun.
I think id choose the 709 over the PT111 due to size.

Racking a slide on the 745/145 can be tough for the not so strong people.

If you are still looking for more ideas, I would consider the Sig P239 in either 9mm or .40.

It is a nice, slim single stack that shoots very well for its size. In my opinion, it is a great balance of "concealability" and "shootability".

I just picked up the 709 a few days ago and really like it. Up until now I carried a full size USP .40, and the 709 is a world of difference in how easy it is to conceal.

Just keep calling around until you hear of a 709 in town, and go check it out.

Take the PT145 over the 745 if you get the option.
The reason is capacity is 6+1 for the 745 and 10+1 for the 145 and you only get a slightly fatter grip, almost unnoticeable.
Had i been able to compare the 2 side by side when i bought mine i would have went that way myself.Live and learn i guess.I still love carrying that gun tho and not sure what id buy to ever replace it if i did.

The 239 is a great gun ive read about, not the smallest but small for most Sigs.Alot of quality and smoothness in that gun,but a high price along with it.

Ill add also the Kahr line in the CW9 and the smaller PM9 are small and smaller if a DAO trigger is what you want.Id almost bet money your wife will like the Kahr line, they are sexy guns imo.
Size wise they make a Glock look like humongous.
