Does anybody have a mild level load for 45 ACP using Titegroup and 230gr LRN? None of my references mention one.

I have a guide that lists 3.8-6.4 grains of titegroup with a 230gr bullet. I've never used titegroup.

I'm wondering about that guide that lists 6.4 for a 230gr. Reason is the can o' titegroup lists max load for a 185gr LSWC as 5.5gr so it only follows that powder for a 230 would be less.
My load not yet chronoed is 3.8 WLP at 1.260 OAL which is what depth the lube groove was at. Recoil has been pleasant and comparable to a load I know was making 170Pf. Ejection was still brisk, these are good plinking loads but certainly not powderpuff.

I've loaded Titegroup primarily in my 230gr LRN (using Star bullets) ammo. I'll say this much only, it took quite a bit of experimenting beyond the Hodgdon max load recommendations to get my Glock 30 to eject reliably,so their starting data may be just the ticket for light loads. I ended up solving my problem with a factory crimp die and some slight overloading. I had no trouble getting speeds as low as the mid 500 fps range with the recommended loads for Titegroup.

Thanks to all who responded. I will start @ 4.5 gr. Sounds like a good plinking load.

If you're still checking. I've been using 5.1 of titegroup and OAL of 1.23. Not a plinker load, but highly accurate. Recoil is not bad either. Like factory loads, I think.

Oregon Trail's Laser-Cast Reloading Manual:
Laser-Cast 230 gr. LRN 3.9gr Titegroup/WLP/701fps out of a 5" Bar-Sto barrel. OAL listed as 1.260 with taper crimp to .470".
I've not loaded .45 ACP that light, but have loaded their .357 and 38 Special Titegroup light per same manual with good results.
