I just bought a used Colt Diamondback and it has the rubber Pachymer made grips with the gold Colt medalion. I believe it is most likely that these were not on the gun when it left the factory. However, this has the highest serial number that I have ever seen and the last Colt catalog shows most revolvers having these grips from the factory. I do not have all catalogs and do not see that the Diamondback came with them, the Detective Special another "D" frame gun came with them and even the Pthyon came with them near the end. Does anyone have a mid 1980's Colt catalog showing the Diamondback with rubber grips? Or, does anyone have knowledge of this issue? Thanks, Jim

I think Colt did issue guns with Pachmayrs that had their logo.

If the gun comes from the mid 1980s, it should have wood grips.

Someone substituted a later set of the rubber grip on the gun.

Colt started using the rubber Pachmayr grips in 1991. You said it was the highest serial number you've seen, the odds are that they are factory.
