I just came back from a trip to Cincinnati on I-71.

You pass the Ohio State Trapshooting Asso. range.

I've passed it many times now and have yet to see anybody on it.

Is this ever used on a daily basis, just for occasional meets, or never?

I just passed it last month on our way down to Hocking, looks like a nice big range. Was wondering the same thing.

Is it the one in Vandalia where the Grand used to be held? - that has been moved to Illinois if it is the same place

The ATA shooting grounds at Vandalia (Dayton Airport) are completely closed, the Grand American having moved to Sparta, Illinois. The ATA Hall of Fame is still at Vandalia and open to the public. It will relocate to Sparta in the near future. The ATA main office remains.
The Ohio Trapshooting Association now holds their State Shoot at the Cardinal Center Campground, north of Columbus (I-71, exit 140). Other ATA registered trapshoots are held there, as well as International bunker trap events. Practice traps are open Sundays and Wednesdays. There is also an archery range.

The last time I drove by there a few weeks ago it was in use. I think that's the only time in years I've seen any one there.

The place I'm talking about is north of Columbus, borders right on I-71 South.

Signs ID it as Ohio Trapshooting Asso.

Passed it many times, have never seen anyone there.

Seems a waste, great looking facility.

I have to admit, North of Columbus is North of Cincinnati.

Remember, Cincinnati is the biggest town in kentucky...
My job has taken me by the trap range off I-71 a couple time a month for the past year. I never see anyone there.

OK, I said I was coming back from Cincinnati, I didn't say the range was in Cincinnati, only that I passed it on I-71.

Guess I could have been a little more specific.

But that still doesn't excuse a beautiful range like that being used so infrequently. ;>)

It doesn't get used because it's not close to Cincinnati. :D
plumberroy, I am almost due North of you. I live about 3/8 mile from Indiana on Stillwell Beckett Road. Almost 4 miles from the lovely little liberal :barf: enclave of Oxford. Tha Obama for President signs are getting a little tattered. :barf::barf:
