OKay this is very strange,I ordered an mag release extension for my 10/22 from impactguns. I tracked the package on friday It said "out for delivery". Package never came so I assumed the worst that they had lost my package, I check the tracking number again and the latest activity says" 09/25/2009 9:23 P.M. PKG DELAY-ADD'L SECURITY CHECK BY GOV'T OR OTHER AGENCY- BEYOND UPS CONTROL ".
What the heck is this, I have ordered lots of different parts and accesories, scope mounts , rifle cases, magazines etc. Has anyone else had this happen?

Some companies have to have their facilities etc. randomly checked by organizations like the TSA.
I know that the TSA has recently instated a new policy about "indirect air carriers" and if a company handles something that is sent by a plane sometime during its delivery process they are subject to surprise TSA inspections.
Chances are the facility got a surprise inspection, but that's just me speculating.

It happens, I had a package come in with DHS stamps on it - seems they were interested in the contents.
Did I mention I collect radioactive samples? :D

There is a documentary type TV show that airs weekly (I believe) that documents that activity of homeland security agents. One of the things they have shown is agents posted to package processing centers (the one depicted in the show was FEDEX). They have dogs sniff the packages for drugs, explosives, etc... If the dog gives a hit, the package is opened , checked, and if clean sent on its way.

This may not be too far from the truth. There is a pretty big watchlist these days and anyone that posts stuff on the internet should probably keep an eye out.

I found a site in china that sells Tritium nite sites, they also sell samples of tritium large enough to function as a 'low light lantern' meaning a capsule the size of a 'c' or 'd' cell battery. Ive always wondered what customs would say if you tried to bring that into the country. I noticed that the FDA will not let US citizens import lasers with a power output in excess of 5mv. What a shame.

Tritium is illegal to import, period, end of story, full stop. Don't try - if caught, it's a nice big Federal felony to deal with.

Where'd your package come from? If overseas, even if you didn't know it upon ordering, I'd put my bets on a CBP hold.

I work in the Shipping/Receiving department of my company and frequently encounter packages that have been re-sealed and affixed with DHS stickers. I've noticed that the large majority of them are also ones that have been run through US Customs, which is odd because I would assume that Customs does a thorough enough inspection as is. We also recently had to resubmit our business info to DHS. Just something that happens I guess.

Perhaps DHS/TSA are the ones to blame when I get a package from midway of buffalo or grafs with only 99 pieces of brass in one bag. Nothing is more irritating.:fire:
