Blade Play

I recently purchased a Benchmade 912 Stryker. I'm a bit disheartened however because there is a a bit of play in the blade. When it is in the locked position it will rotate a slight bit back and forth. How much rotation should be considered acceptable?

In my opinion, none.
You should send it back to be fixed or replaced.

A hair or 2 of side to side blade play is acceptible if the pivot has been adjusted to allow quick opening. When folded, the tip of the blade shouldn't be able to hit the liners unless you push it there. It should stay centered in the handle.
If the play is in the open/close direction, that is definately not acceptible. It should lock up as solid as a fixed blade, and benchmades definately do when they're right.
It does sound like this one slipped by their QA guys. Warranty should be exercised.
