I'm looking for a new hunting knife. It shouldbe sixed blade with a 3-4" blade. It should be good for general purpose as well as field dressing and skinning deer. Three that come to mind are Puma, Grohmann and Marbles. I have a Puma Hunters Pal but it has the rubber grip. I want wood or stacked leather handles with a leather sheath. Price $50-$100.
I also have a Buck Big Sky which cam with a horrible sheath.

Schrade Sharpfinger comes to mind. Excellent knife for the money and available in most sporting goods stores for around $20. It's definitely one of the sharpest knives I own.

Sharpfinger is indeed a good, inexpensive knife. The first decent FB I ever owned. A classic.

Give this link a look. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Queen Knives have been around for a long time. Click on the "Queen Fixed Blade Hunting and Fillet Knives" link, and you'll find several models with stacked wood handles (looks very similar to stacked leather).
D2 blade steel is top notch, and I've heard that Queen does a decent heat treat.

Sharpfingers are nice, inexpensive knives. SMKW had some stainless versions--basically the same as the Wolverine--a while back for $14.99. They had yellow handles.

Several very serious hunters II know have these - few have only one. :)

I have one of his 4" drop points. The knife is fantastic.

If you can be swayed at all on the handle material, I have to suggest a Bark River. The Professional series with Micarta handles are outstanding for the price. A2 steel, convex ground, and a leather sheath.

Otherwise, click on the "Dealers" link on the Bark River page. Many of their dealers also carry Marbles and Wolverine for reasonable prices. Give 'em a look.

Al,
You are an evil man, and I won't forgive you soon. Those look sweet.
