besides Varget. Shooting 5.56 24" 1/8 twist barrel. I am trying BLC-2 right now, but I need some more powder and would try something else if its better.

I've had pretty good results accuracy-wise with both TAC and H335. Don't have a chrono yet.

25.0gr of WIN 748. If that does not group reasonably well, you have a problem with your rifle.

24.8 grains of Reloder 15 works really well with that bullet.

Alliant's R15 does well for me also.

Any powder in the IMR 4895 burn rate will shoot outstandingly in a .223. If Varget is not giving you the result you want, nothing is going to make you happy: Varget is almost a staple in the .223

Still, I conducted load testing with my first match AR, I found AA2495 (Accurate Arms knockoff of IMR 4895) shot very well. I have been squadded with plenty of guys who were using surplus 4895, and they were High Masters. At that time in history N135 was very popular, I tried it, and it shot well. I have tried N140 with 75's and 80's, it shoots well. Friends of mine were using N540.

I got leg points with AA2520, which is a ball powder. It shot well but sure was dirty, so I prefer stick powders, unless AA2520 is dirt cheap. I will put up with dirt if the powder is dirt cheap.

Precision Shooting Primer had article on 28in Wylde chambered AR with 1:9in twist.

They shot the 69gr SMK exclusively.

Article was old, and had mostly Hodgdon, Win, IMR, and Reloder 7 powders.

IMR 4895, H322, W748 did great.

IMR 4350 was very accurate but velocity was very low.

I like R15, Varget and AA2230.

"Any powder in the IMR 4895 burn rate will shoot outstandingly in a .223."

Not surprisingly, I use IMR 4895 in a 1:8" barrel with excellent results, and have tried a couple groups through a 1:7" barrel with similar results.

Varget, RL15, N135, and TAC.
25 of Varget plus or minus 0.3gr ought to be a one holer!

I'm using 25.3 grains H-4895 behind a 69 gr Nosler HPBT, consistent 2.0" groups at 100 yards with my Mini-14, very happy with that. I've also had very good accuracy with IMR 4895, although velocity is about 100 fps slower.

With 55 grain bullets, 25.3 grains of H-4895 gives excellent results. This stuff burns very clean too, not temp sensitive.

rl15 is a real winner. also both n140 as they are similer in loads and using n540 is great but if you are only shooting short ranges stick with the loads that work for you. now with a 1-8 24" barrel with 69smk's you should get some really good groups.
plenty of match shooters are using either rl15 or varget. I like n140 as for me it is a little cleaner. plus you can shoot a heavier round with no problems if you wish.

the vihtavuori reloading book for the 69smk calls for you to start out with 24.6 of n140 and out of the 20" it will run at 2741fps. you should get more fps out of a 24" also. that should be fine as you should most likely not use it out past 300 yards or so anyway. not that you could not but past that there are better rounds.

each rifle is a little different so work your loads up till you get the groups and speed you wish. myself I load to get to a certain fps I wish to use and then work up or down to tune it to my barrel.

A lot of good powders recommended. 4064 is another good one in the .223 with 69 gr bullets on up.

my "sweet spot" for my 16" 1in9 twist AR is 23 gr. of H-335

Bought some RL-15 and H-322 but haven't gotten around to trying them out yet....
