870 cereal numbers?
Picked up an 870 wingmaster today (for the wife, you understand ;) ;) ) the mod # v763###v is there a chart on the Internet where you can go and decipher the mod#?
It has a 20-inch barrel and if it has been cut, it was a professional job.

No cereal numbers, I'm afraid - they melted in the Wheaties box... :D
For serial numbers, however, I'm sure someone can help you. ;)

Hope the wife likes her new shotgun. Remington's website has an 800 number one can call and get the age of an 870. But....
All 870s are good shooters. Age matters little, since they'll out last us. My 1955 made 870 is just getting broken in. After 8-10K rounds through my oldest, 1950 made 870, it's nice, smooth, and locks up like a bank vault. The 1978 TB here has 11K rounds through it since I got it in 2001, it's not loosened either, just a tad smoother.
If you're curious, go ahead and call. I have.

A man was found murdered this morning, face down in a bowl of Cheerios.
Police think its the work of a cereal killer.

Would using an 870 make you a cereal killer?
