Hi everyone,

I bought an older 'A. Uberti, Italy' SAA 'Bisley' Model, in .45 LC.

Date code puts it at 1997 if my so-far research is correct ("MI" in-a-small-square)

Mainspring feels very weak when I cock it...so, I am wondering if you have any advice on where to order one (other than, I suppose, calling Uberti, but, maybe 'Wolf' or 'Colt' or someone else has Mainsprings which are better regarded?)...

Also, any opinions on what safe Loads would be for this?

Does not say 'Black Powder Only', so...I'm guessing, any 'regular' or standard (non P+) .45 LC off-the-shelf, or, SAMMI-respecting home-reloads would be alright?

Images soon...

Are you sure your mainspring holding screw is tight, and someone didn't pad it with a little piece of leather to make is easier? Typical cowboy shooters trick. As you suspect, it should be perfectly safe with any non-+P SAAMI loads. Wolff does offer spring kits for the regular models, I don't know about the Bisleys.

Thanks Virginian,

I'll check it...had not taken anything apart yet...

Why do you want to replace the lighter main spring? If it will pop the primer then it is preferable to the stock spring. You can order a stock spring from Navy Arms, Taylors, or Cimarron Arms.

Been slammed with work...no time yet for detailed inspect.

Mainspring feels VERY weak...have not tried seeing if it will fire a primed empty case...but, I doubt it would

...feels as if almost no Spring resistence/tension is even there...'almost'...so...will check it soon to see if there is an adjustment to review.

Revolver appears possibly unfired, or as new anyway...was said to be unfired, 'NOS'...

Thanks!

Jeeze, I grind and polish crap out of my Uberti springs to make them lighter. There must be a problem you will find once you get inside.
