Anyone have one of these? My dealer has one ,blued steel full size, for $290. I like the feel of this pistol and I am considering it. I know it is a clone of the CZ -75, only in .45. Are they good pistols?

They are great guns for the money, I say buy it. You can always get your money out of it later if you decide to upgrade. I use a Desert Eagle Baby Eagle in 9mm as my beater truck gun. It's basically the same as the CZ, and the EAA Witness....they are all good guns and very accurate.

Witnesses are good guns.
The Witness .45 is a pretty good gun. The triggers aren't usually as good as the similar CZs, but they can be greatly improved. The grip is slightly smaller on the .45 models than the somewhat similar CZ-97B, but the use the same mags as the .45 CZ (or vice versa).
The one I have -- a Witness Sport Long Slide -- I actually preferred over my CZ-97B (which I traded away)... primarily because I found the 97B grip slightly too big for my hand.
Witnesses are based on the same design as the CZ, but are not true clones, as they have a somewhat simplified design. There is almost no parts interchangeability with CZs.
The downside of Witnesses is getting service -- but since yours won't be under warranty, its probably a non-issue.
As DA .45s go, you'd be hard pressed to get a better value for anywhere close to the price.

I like the Tanfoglio pistols so much, I have three of them. I have an older model, TA-90 that was a 9mm but I converted it to .41AE. I have an Uzi Eagle short slide 9mm. And I have the full size 10mm. They are all great guns, very solid for the money.

I didn't expect much when I bought my .45 Witness since it was so inexpensive. Boy, was I wrong.
Really a nice pistol.

Damn you people complain about something! I'm trying to fight the urge to put a Witness 10mm on my credit card . . . ;)

I hear so many good things about the Witness line... maybe that's why I have not purchased a CZ yet, I have that Witness option staring me in the face too!

I have a Tanfoglio 9mm.
It's true that a Tanfoglio is not really a clone of a CZ. Tanfoglio thinks that their (deliberate, by the way) changes are improvements. The evolutionary path is: aspects of SIG/aspects of BHP, to CZ, to Tanfoglio.
The steel is first-rate.
Of course, CZ guys say that CZs are better in overall fit and finish. Maybe, but the Tan. looks quite good enough for me, and works very well, and is $100-$200 cheaper, depending on where you are.
To get respect from "others", the CZ probably will be better than the Tan.. Just considering their functional merits, I don't think there is much difference.
