Hello, will Uberti parts work on the second generation Colts? I will want to start acquiring a passel of replacement parts "just in case" something breaks while I am shooting the 1861. Am hoping I can change the trigger guard out as well. That silver T/G just doesn't talk to me ;)

Check with Dixie Gun Works, and see what they can fix you up with.
p.s. as far as being interchangeable, Original Colt parts and Italian Reproduction parts have seperate listings. A warning of interchanges within the repro's state that some rework may be necessary for fittings. There are no statements concerning interchanges with reproduction and original parts.

Not sure about all parts; but, hammers, hands, triggers and grip frames will interchange between 2nd Gens & Ubertis. Of course, there may be some fitting required. I broke a hand spring on a C series 2nd Gen and a Uberti replacement hand with spring dropped right in with no fitting required, as did a hammer. A replacement trigger needed some minor filing/stoning to work properly. Pietta parts dont work cause the screw & hole diameters are different. I've never had to replace a bolt, so I dont know whether a Uberti one would fit - but, I'd say it would.
Grips and grip frames are a different matter all together. They sometimes need work to fit even withing the same manufacturer and date.

That silver frame well tarnish to a nice black in short order. I concur with fingers, most Uberti small parts should fit with minor fitting.

I have found that Uberti Navy cylinders will fit an original 1st gen Colt quite well.
