I bought a new cutter head for my trimmer and I cannot for the life of me unscrew the existing cutter head off. Does anyone have any guidance?

And just to make sure, you all spin the handle clockwise correct?

You have removed the set screw, have you not? Counter clockwise removes my Lyman cutter hear.

Correct, I removed the set screw and am turning it counter clockwise to remove it but it will not budge...

The clockwise was in reference to when you are actually trimming.

I had an issue taking mine out as well because my trimmer is ancient. I would spray it with a good penetrating oil, wrap the cutter with a towel and use a pair of channel-locks while holding the main shaft in place. You may have to hold the shaft with another pair of channel-locks with a towel wrapped around it. They key to this is not to mar up any of your parts, even the old cutter head as you never know when you may need it again as a temp replacement.

BTW, mine has no set screw holding the cutter head in place. The set screw is in the cutter head which holds the pilot in place, which has no bearing on holding the cutter in place.

I have an older Lyman Trimmer and it has an allen set screw in the trimmer pilot itself. This must be loosened to remove the pilot from the trimmer itself. If this was already done, you may have to soak the pilot with WD40 to break it loose. If htat doesn't work, you may have to use a pair of vice grips to unscrew the pilot.
