PA CCW question

I am a NYS resident and possess a PA CCW permit..(NOT the sportsman).
PA allows dog training year round, so I run my beagles on PA SGL near here during the summer months.
When running, I like to carry, however it has been pointed out that carrying while running dogs *COULD* be construed as hunting.
My question:
Am I good to carry while running dogs without possessing a PA hunting license??
The main reson to carry is to occasionally shoot over the dogs while they are running a rabbit and for the remote possibilty of a coyote attack on the dogs. This has not happened to me, but I have friends that have lost beagles to coyotes.
Thanks, Bill P

Will .... I cannot quote you any hard law stuff but ... I guess, yeah .. if you met the ''wrong Ranger'' then hunting could well be construed! It would perhaps be up to you to prove otherwise and that may not be too easy.

It would seem .... just MHO ..... worthwhile if you do this much to get yourself a non-res hunting licence ....... which would also of course expand your ''potential'' somewhat ... shall we say!! It would mean too ... you'd get the Digest too which gives you all the dates etc for various game and seasons etc.

The hunting regs say you do not need a hunting license to train dogs....

They also say you can not carry a rifle, shotgun or bow and arrows while training dogs......nothing about a handgun.

If your firing over your dogs you better be firing blanks....because someone else may be walking through the woods.

You can not kill coyotes unless you have a hunting or furtaking license. You could make the arguement that your protecting your dogs and not hunting

This is sounding about like I better not carry without a hunting license - even tho I have the right (CWW license) to protect myself and my dogs..

It's a can of worms and I believe there *could* be trouble even if I DID have a hunting license..Which I do most years.

It's looking like I can carry downtown but not in the woods...ouch
