mag tube spring length

any guidelines on how long to cut a mag tube spring? I have an Ithaca Mod 37 DS Police Special, I ordered a replacement from Wolff and was wondering how long I need to cut it down to. :confused:
A few inches longer than the old one?

The springs on my extended mag guns are considerably longer the the mag tube (in their relaxed state)----and work just fine.

Ok, I'll see what it looks like first, I was just wondering because Wolff said they came long and need to be trimmed to length.
