45 Colt Handloads shooting LOW

I've been playing with a load for 45Long Colt in my Ruger Bisleys. It's 19.0 gr. of Hodgdon Lil Gun behind a 265 gr. hard cast bullet. I've used up the elevation in the rear sight & i'm still low by 3 inches at 25 yds. I don't think this should be the case. The load is listed at 1196 fps in the data(don't have a chronograph) I know I can start whittlin' down the front sight to raise point of impact etc., but I think the problem is probably related to some fault in my technique, maybe grip or trigger ? I know the load is considerably stouter than factory, but it ain't a bear stomper by any stretch(a friend who's windings are a tad loose thinks it's a "nice" plinking load???) Any helpful hints from the cogniscenti amongst the wheel gunners out there?

Do not shoot .45
Do shoot .41
May want to try a heavier bullet.
Or back the grains down a hair.
Guns do have preferred loads.
I have found that accuracy loads are not always near the max. load.
Also, bullets fly in an arch, so it may hit right on an another distance.
P.S. fun part of reloading is this tailor load to gun.
BTW, a different powder may change the same bullet performance because of burn rate.

Yup.
I do believe a 300 gr bullet is indicated. :D

When the gun is shooting low, the bullet isn't spending enough time in the barrel to "bring the nose up". A light round moving fast will do that and you're bordering on that territory. Not that deep in said territory, so I'm a bit surprised.
Still, going to a 300 will indeed help.

try gripping the gun a little higher on the grip fram it will allow it to roll a little more in recoil and should raise you point of impact a little. Also I dont know if you are a flincher or not but most of the time when people have a small flinch they jump into the gun pushing it forward and down which will lower the point of impact. Another way to raise impact is with a little lighter grip again allowing more recoil flip. I wouldnt do any filing until your sure of the grip you will CONSISTANTLY use.

You might be pulling it down with your trigger finger also ... ?

All the above is true...
Now you must work on one variable at a time.
Try shooting from sandbags, etc.
Changing the sights would be the last in my choices.

Measure your sight and give Ruger a call. They have the sight blades in different heights.
