What is there out there in the flavor of a semi auto only 6mm?

I guess the .243 would be your best bet. Browning makes the BAR in this caliber (see here (http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=002B&cat_id=031&type_id=008), and Remington makes the 7400 also (see here (http://www.remington.com/NR/exeres/00001429wlfilziwbvyqsuil/RemArms+Rich+Product.asp?NRMODE=Published&NRORIGINALURL=%2ffirearms%2fcenterfire%2f7400wd%2ehtm&NRNODEGUID=%7b273434A3-1A2C-439E-BDC0-EBCBDDBF522E%7d&NRQUERYTERMINATOR=1&cookie%5Ftest=1)).

Have seen AR-10's and FAL's with .243 barrels, too. Also recall that there were at least a few .243 M-1A's produced.

I think you can get an AR-15 upper in "6x45" .

Yep. You can get a 6x45mm from Oly Arms, and should be able to get a .243 WSSM upper or rifle from them shortly. DSA makes .243 rifles, too.

JP Enterprises can build their "match" AR-10 in .243. They might even have one in stock, right now.
