No More High-Ride Holsters!

I have the following handguns for which finding a decent holster is difficult enough already: FN-Herstal FNP-9, Smith & Wesson Model 60 with 3-inch barrel and full underlug (not the Model 60 Pro) and Beretta 84FS Cheetah.

To complicate matters, I am sick of holsters that leave the grip somewhere halfway up my ribcage so that I look (and feel) like I am scratching my armpits when I draw. I like the grip to be just above the waist, at most. After all, the idea is to clear leather quickly.

When the occasion calls for CC, I have no trouble tucking an IWB inside my pants or dropping my S&W 637 in a pocket. Or wearing a true Threepersons holster (if I could find one for my guns) where the top of the holster is even with the top of the gun belt.

I don't mind the plastic holsters (except I will never buy another Fobus), but finding one to fit the handguns I want to carry is a real pain and most of them carry the gun too high for comfort.

Right now, believe it or not, my favorite holster is a Hunter that sort of fits the Model 60. The grip is right where I like it, but the fit could be charitably described as "loose." BB in a boxcar comes closer to the truth.

I am trying to avoid big-buck custom-made because the holsters I want are quite simple. Does anyone know of someone who will make exactly what I want at a reasonable price?

I'm quite fond of the Galco DAO. Like you I don't like the grips in my armpit and the DAO is versatile in that it can be worn either strong side or crossdraw. I really like that!

They also should have DAOs that fit your weaponry.
