Ive had my Bulgarian Makarov for a while...got it to keep my CZ83 Mak company in the safe :D

I already polished up the trigger parts a little, which didnt seem to help, but hey what the hell?....

I reshaped the reddish brown grip, got rid of the sharp edges and retextured it with...get this....spray on bed liner from any auto parts store..the stuff is bullet proof and works!

I textured the front strap and reblued it a tad..looks and works great.

The front sight only got day glow orange paint for quicker acquisition but the rear got a reshaping for less snaggability...works very nice.

Ive got a pretty neat little custom Mak for absolutely no $...oh well, so far..I had everything to do it with except the 6$ for the spray on bed liner.

It shoots very very well and is very Pocket Carry Friendly with the grip reshaped in a Good Holster.

Shoot well............http://www.imageseek.com/hbeleather/gallery/albums/custom/CustomMak.sized.jpg

Looks pretty cool.

A while back there where some guys on the makarov forum who where experimenting with "Dip Grip" (that stuff you dip tool handles into to give them a ruberized coating) on old red star grips ... I seem to remember a couple of guys having pretty good luck with it.

I remember someone trying that bed liner on a rifle stock too, seemed to look good and worked well from his account.

Nice tinkering!

Very nice!

I just love my Bulgarian Mak too. It is bone stock with the red star grips on it. Gun and ammo are inexpensive, it never malfunctions, and it is just plain fun to plink with!

Maks really rock!
