Broken Hand assembly on Blank SAA

Hello,

I am new to this forum and needed to post a question regarding a broken hand assembly on a .380 blank SAA revolver. The outward tip of the hand assembly had broken off, I am sure this is a common area of breakage as the assembly appears to be made of soft metal. What I need to do is replace the assembly; however, I cannot find any place that offers the replacement part, if any are offered. It is a common blank western revolver, I think is Italian made and I would like to know if any hand assembly parts from a real colt or colt clone would work for this gun? I would prefer the real colt assembly if possible as the quality of the metal as noted before is rather soft. I had tried gluing the parts back together with epoxy for metal, but it just doesn't stick well. I apologize if this is the wrong forum area for this question, but since this is about a blank gun I had thought the matter would be better known here. Thanks in advance for any help in this area.

The maker of the revolver should be somewhere visible. Check the underside of the barrel if the maker's name is not readily apparent.

If the maker is one of the recognized Italian manufactures, chances are the hand for one of their cartridge revolvers should fit.

If the gun is a full size single action, chances are that a hand from Colt or another manufacturer can be fitted.

However, even if a Colt hand assembly is put in a Colt revolver, the hand will have to be fitted (mated) to the star and timed. This is a fairly simple job, but one that is best left to a good single action smith if you yourself are not a competent smith.

***UPDATE***

I found out that the blank gun is a Armi Chiappa in their Kimar catalog in .380

If this helps in any way. I tried contacting the company in Italy, but to no avail. Was wondering if any other gun company hand assembly might work with this blank gun? Not sure of the dimensions to look for.

I doubt if anyone will know what hand from another gun might fit this one.

If I were guessing, I'd say none of them.
There have been a wide range of internal parts dimensions & frame sizes, even on real Italian replica SAA firearms through the years.

Your best bet would probably be to find a gunsmith who specializes in Cowboy Action guns and see if he has a hand in his parts collection that is close.

Just FYI, most of those blank revolvers are very cheaply made and were never intended for long life. The guns themselves are often a cheap zinc alloy and parts are made of the same cheap material. They are similar to, and often made by the same companies as, the dummy guns sold for decorations in "Western" steak houses and the like.

Good luck on your hunt, but if you do find a good steel hand for that gun, it might well wear out other parts.

Any of these look similar? If you send them a tracing of yours they will try matching it.

Thanks Chawbaccer,

I ordered one of the arms listed in the Dixie site; hopefully, it fits. Lucky for me it just was the part. Because I live in the People's Republic of New Jersey, Dixie has no ability to ship here any of their firearms, which some look nice enough. I was especially interested in their Black Powder stuff. Oh well.
