I have been watching 7th Heaven for a couple of years now because my wife likes it. I endured it up until about 5 minutes ago when the resident local expert donut disposal went on a "you don't need a gun, we'll protect you" tirade during a neighborhood watch meeting. And no, the guy asking about the gun wanted it for home, not to carry around during a watch. NO MORE 7TH HEAVEN FOR THIS HOUSE.

Why do they do this??? I have half a mind to write to the network but it'll just fall on deaf ears.

So all I want to do is find some clean entertainment for my family. We've been watching 7th Heaven awhile and although a bit hokey, it's clean so the kids can watch. Then of course I just saw the worst. Below is the jist of it. Reading it back, it doesn't look too bad, but the context of it is the good looking young cop setting the old geezer in his place. The cop held a neighborhood watch to fight some petty crimes going on in the neighborhood. Here's pretty much how it went:

Bob: So besides locking our doors and keeping lights on, what else can we do to keep safe?
Bumbling old geezer: what bob is talking about is guns.
Bob: no I’m not
Bumbling old geezer: well then I am
Cop: I don't recommend any of you getting guns
Bumbling old geezer: why not
Cop: the criminal can use your own gun against you
Bumbling old geezer: when what should we do?
Cop: call the police. We are trained to use guns
Bumbling old geezer: oh, yeah. Wait robber until I call the police
Cop: guns aren’t the answer. Here’s my card. It has my cell number, my pager, and my desk number. Anytime of the day or night call me and I will come running.

(They all look around at the geezer. And give him the "cops are here to protect us because we’re too stupid to do it ourselves" look.)

I pretty much quit watching when Jessica Biels left and the 2 pretty boys came on. The acting went down hill as fast as the scenery did. It ws always an issue show but now it seems like more of a blissninny platform show. Too bad it was really good clean entertainment, it was my favorite show , then it jumped the shark.

Never watched it, but I did used to see commercials. It seems like it went from one of those warm fuzzy sitcoms to a "Dad's doin' drugs. Mom's doin' drugs. Kids are doin' drugs and soliciting prostitutes," shows. Maybe I just don't remember. I haven't watched anything besides the Simpsons and movies in a couple years, and I have a very poor memory. I wouldn't be surprised if it did turn into a rampantly anti-gun show. I expect this thread will either be locked or merged soon, though, because of the other one in General.

If you truely do feel that strongly about the issue then I recommend you contact the network and convey your thoughts to them and more importantly contact the companies that advertise on the commercials and tell them you'll be boycotting their products.

Just not watching the show accomplishes nothing, but raising a little fuss will potentially accomplish something.

I gave away my long-unwatched television a couple months ago. If I ever run out of good books, I'll replace it. That could take a few millennia.

My experience was that as long as one was lurking on the property, there was the remote possibility of exposure to the bias and misinformation which comprises modern T.V. 'entertainment'.

I trust you cautioned the new owner:eek:
