Just bought a new Ruger GP 100 4" stainless 357.

Looking for range ammo in both 357 and 38 spcl.

Does anyone have experience with Georgia Arms? Their prices look pretty good. Any info on shipping times?

I have bought from them in the past and had good experiences. Their lead time is about 5-7 weeks at this time.

Good ammo there and you can get practice ammo quicker than GD for hunting or defence. Give them a call and see whats up ,sometimes you get lucky and fall in to a production run and get what you want quickly. Great rifle/hunting ammo too.

GA is a major player in the ammo biz... you should not have any problems with them.

... if you can find what you are looking for in-stock.

How about the "Canned Heat" stuff is it the same as their other reloads just bulk?

I have been using GA ammo for at least 12 years. Not 1 FTF yet. When I called and questions about my 454 bullet seperation, the gentleman on the other end asked me if I was using it in a Ruger Alaskan. They offered to exchange it for me.

I have fired untold thousands of rounds of GA ammo over the years, in a very wide variety of calibers. Theirs is the only bulk stuff I keep on hand in revolver calibers, FWIW, and their GDHP loadings in most handgun calibers makes for good defensive ammo at a reasonable price.

Yes, the "canned heat" specials are just bulk-packed units of their regular re-manufactured ammo in most calibers.

re-manufactured ammo in most calibers. most of it is "new"

There caned heat is mixed brass in a ammo can . We all shot it ,good stuff. Best about them ,they try to not screw with a good mix of components. If it works well leave it alone. I have shoot there 308 125gr BT for 15 years and it prints the same .

My experience has been mostly positive. They're dirty reloads, at least the canned heat. I've had a couple of cartridges where the brass was mangled to the point it wouldn't fit in the revolver.

i have had just the opposite with the caned heat ammo ,good clean ammo with no outword problems and allways shot well. Butmine has mainly been for semi-autos too. 9mm and 40 in 1000 round box's then 357 and 38 in smaller amounts.

Their lead time SAYS it is 5-7 weeks but I got 1000 rnds of 38 spl from them in 1.5 weeks.

Haven't shot them yet, no gun to shoot 38 spl (yet), but for $233 shipped for 1000 rnds in 1.5 weeks its a good deal.

most of it is "new"
The opposite is true. If it says "new" it's new. If not it's factory reloads.

I have had bad service with them. I ordered non +p .38 specials for my Colt Cobra and they sent some hot +P rounds. They told me that I could shoot them in the Colt and refused to do anything about the fact that they sent me the wrong ammunition. No more Georgia Arms for me.

Not to doubt you at all, but that flies in the face of every CS experience I've ever had with them -- both back in my dealer days and now as just another private customer.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience...

They have always been a first class company for me too

Nothing but positive experiences for me. I've been ordering practice ammo from them for years. Never an ammo-related failure in thousands of rounds.

The last order I had with them I cancelled after about 12 weeks of waiting. They
don't answer emails either. No more GA for me.

Being a LEO here in Ga, Ga arms is all we use for training. I didn't even know there was another brand! :D

All joking aside, a friend is a private firearms instructor and that is all he uses. He normally gets some extra for me at his price and well, I shoot alot of it. Never had a problem with it.

I'm sorry for those of you that have had a problem.

I just ordered 300 rounds of their 240 gr GD HP for my Ruger .44M. (Alaskan).
I have shot some of their stuff in past and found it to be very good ammo.

I've ordered the stuff that comes in plastic bags. The 9mm is +P and I've been told I can shoot it okay out of a SW 659 (haven't tried yet). Seems I also got some +P+ stuff from them as well. To shoot that I'll probably need a heavier rebound spring.

Fired a 50rd bag of .45acp 230gr FMJ from them yesterday. Performed as well as any factory new loads.

Any info on shipping times?

Depends on what you order apparently. I ordered some .45 Colt and .41 Mag. Gold Dot loads in July and still haven't seen them. I'm not in any particular hurry - so no worries. I'm guessing they are having a tough time getting the components for those sizes since I can't find any myself. Although in the last month I did locate some .41 Mag brass and got it.

.38 special or .357 is probably more readily available.

I've used more than 1000 rds of their 38spl semiwadcutter ammo. Very good consistent stuff. Kinda dirty is the only drawback. But I clean my 38s and 357s after every range session anyway.

No complaints w/ their quality but I credit their poor customer service with my getting back into reloading ... much cheaper to roll your own and more satisfying too ...

I ordered 1,000 rounds of 38 special (3 types; semi wad, round nose, flat nose) on 10/26 and it was delivered yesterday 10/30!

Wow...beats going to wally world everyday looking for reasonably priced ammo.

I have allway thought GA's customer service was first class. They alway have called me to tell of possible changes to order and when they are shipping. Example-- ordered some GD loads in 40s&w,9mm and 38sp. They called to say that the 9mm and 40's had been run but they were still out of 124gd bullets for the 38 and could i use someting different so i said send 110gr gd's and that they did . Ammo was at my house house 3 days later. Now i do have mixed orders shipped together and they load one type at a run so some ammo may have to set around till next run comes around toget my mixed order but i know that going in. When i have called to check they have always been great to talk too.

Shot some of my haul today.....was very dirty. Perhaps the dirtiest ammo i have ever shot. That said, for target practice and the price its still ok.
