well im taking my 2 nieces hunting in the morning. the older says she has dibs on first deer (i may change that since i have an empty freezer but the other i think is jsut in it because she thinks the boys will like it

they are 18 and 15

the younger is using the .30-30 and my other niece is using the xl7

me im either gonna carry my new england westinghouse 1891 mosin nagant or my ishy 2a enfield

any idea how to keep them quiet? but keep them interested in hunting at the same time

good luck keeping them quiet, if it was an afternoon hunt they'd prob just text there little hearts out. being as its morning they loose interest and fall asleep quickly. good luck. be safe

I wouldn't make them, if they want to, go for it, otherwise, just have em help you with the legs

bring snacks, and let them play w/ the binoculars - seems to be a good way to bust boredom.

i wouldn't put any pressure on them to clean their own deer.

Make sure they have a place to "go." I've never known a girl who was comfortable with "going" in the bushes.

hmm, I think a DS or PSP with the volume turned off would be just the ticket :D

cajun they grew up on a horse farm they are plently comfortable with the bushes lol

well we didnt get one today, my niece Sarah(15) took 2 shots from her stand with a 12 gauge and 00 buck, the first was a clean miss and the second she hit too low and got it in the leg. there was blood but not alot, we followed the blood trail for over 100 yards then it just stopped. but shes hooked she had alot of fun and shes going out again next weekend with her dad when he has the weekend off.

the other niece had a chance to take a bad shot but she told me she wasnt comfortable taking it since the deer was running full speed. im happy that she realized it wasnt a good shot and let the deer go.

i didnt have a good day, it started out crummy as i was out DDing for some friends still 2, i cant sleep anyways so it didnt bother me, but then they both showed up late. that kinda made me mad since they both know i like to hunt alone so i can clear me head, but i still took them and they showed up a half hour late. we hunted all morning and had alot of dogs come through chasing away the deer. then around 2 oclock i got a call that my mother fell off a ladder while painting some trim on out house (broken collar bone cracked wrist, and a bone in her rear) so i had to make phone calls to find someone to help them while i drove the half hour to the hospital.but everything ended up ok and i was back in the woods by 330.

about 1030 the cell phones came out because some girl did something with some guy...... thats one thing i dont miss about high school THE DRAMA.

all in all not a bad day hunting, but not a great day overall.

now i gotta drive the 6.5 hours back to my apartment and get a decent nights sleep for 2 mid terms monday

I snore pretty loud so sleeps out, I find I can always finish a few good books during deer season but the younger folks may need a DVD player and head phones to keep them in “the zone”.

Yes, don't plan on actually seeing any game. I can't keep my kids quiet for 8 seconds.
