My buddy and I got off of a 10 hour shift at 3am. We were tired but a few hours later we found ourselves a hunting spot. We loaded our guns (Remington 870 and a Benelli Nova) 2 min. before shooting time like we always do. About 3 min later I spotted a bird screaming out of the fog at about 40 yards high. I saw it late but my finger was itching so I pulled up and took a nearly vertical shot (yeah, I got the first shot at North Access!). Even though I missed, we gave each other a big high-five. The season had started and we were way too exited to be tired. There were so many guys out there shooting we just stood there and laughed for a second while non-stop thunder rang out. 3 hours later we only had 2 birds in hand. We lost 1 in the cat tails and crippled 2 that we never recovered. We were soaked, sore, dead tired, and could not be more happy.
