I can't tell you for a fact but I'm pretty sure you can, as I have trimmed down 44 special brass to make .44 Colt brass, and that requires turing the case's rim dia. down too. LM

Yes you can and the shell holder is the same. The only problem is getting the trimmed and untrimmed mixed up.
If you need some 44 special, let me know. I can part with 1 or 2 hunnert.

Order from Starline. You'll get a box of brass in a couple of weeks.

Sure, you can trim .44 mag cases to .44 special length, no sweat.
Only one caveat - the .44 mag cases, depending on brand, may have a thicker web than the .44 special brass. If that's true, your shortened .44 mag brass may hold less powder than the same length of .44 special factory brass. If you're using a case with reduced capacity, you will get somewhat higher pressures than a load using standard .44 special brass. The difference would be rather small, and problematic only if you're already loading .44 special loads towards the hot end of the spectrum. You can verify the case capacity by taking your modified .44 mag brass, filling it with water (or anything else) and dumping the contents into a .44 special factory brass. IF the modified mag brass has diminished capacity, it won't fill up your .44 special brass.
