Now that I've got the MEC 10 gauge press working, I've got ideas.

I used to have an old single shot 10 ga goose gun many years ago but got rid of it because of the recoil. If you measured two 36 caliber round balls, which are OOO buckshot that would be .72" in diameter, hence 3 should fit in the shell and stack flat .

Yeah, it's something like a 78 caliber bore, I think. I don't have any .36 round ball, but can pick some up to see. I hunt hogs as well as geese with it, a H&R. It's a cannon, for sure, but it does a number on high flying geese with steel T shot. The hogs are on a WMA here that requires buckshot only.

I've been able to pick up 00 Federal, but hogs are tough animals. I contacted TP&W on the use of that 60 cal tri ball stuff, but they said they don't consider that as buckshot. Now, I thought about getting it anyway, but then, I started messing with this press and got to thinkin' about concocting something better than 00 and legal. LOL I think I'm going to try it. 100 rounds of round ball ain't expensive. I should be able to get 5 rounds out of it at 18 shot per shell. Hell, I could buy a mold if it works. Have to smooth the sprue cut off it, i guess, but a dremel could do that.

Excuse me for thinkin' to myself on a post. LOL

I have a blackpowder 36 caliber mold that produces .375 round balls for my 36 Navy. You might need OOO buck that actually measures .360. However , I am not sure , but you could buy buckshot at Graf and Sons and reload it. That is what I do. The OOO buck is the way to go on the wild hogs. However I have killed quite a few with just OO buckshot in the brush with my full choke 12 ga single shot. I like the H&R 10 ga gun, they still make a good one. Simple and reliable too.
