I didn't shoot one but I got to mess with a Featherlight in .308 at the local shop. It is an incredibly nice firearm. The action was pretty smooth for being brand new. I have heard they are pretty good shooters but I can't say for certain, the checkering on the stocks looks really good too.

Shot a Featherweight and a Sporter.
Balance and overall feel was excellent. The stock fit me well, everything worked as it was supposed to...the bluing is top quality, reminds one of the black/blue of guns built in the past.
The trigger was OK, but I am spoiled with the trigger thing...I'll say the trigger is better than anything Remington is offering (production) and on par with the Savage Accutrigger without the annoying safety blade.
As for the accuracy, I won't say it is a tack driver...by no means, but I can't disrespect its accuracy either. We had but one brand, type and bullet weight of each caliber and the rifles were new, also the rests we were treated to were simply atrocious, so the 2" 5 shot groups at 100y can not be looked upon as law and gospel.
Some of our customers report 1/2" groups...most who have reported back are calling it a 1" gun. We have not sold a great many, for a while they were hard to get.
We shot the Featherweight in 308WIN. and the Sporter was 30-06.
Me wants one...the Super Grade! if I can just nail that lottery!

I have a new M70 Extreme Weather in 30-06. It is excellent overall in fit and finish and the bolt is very smooth. I have not shot it much yet, just some shoot and clean for barrel breakin and to start zeroing the scope. I shot a couple 3 shot groups with Privi Partizan 165gr that were 1.5-2" or so. Only 20 rounds down the tube so far. It has a VX-III 2.5-8x36mm scope on it. The LOP at 13.75" is a bit too long for me (I'm 5'7") and I'm debating spending the $$ for another Bell & Carlson stock with a shorter LOP. The B&C stock it comes with is excellent otherwise, I'll probably buy the same stock with shorter LOP. I believe its a Medalist. I was shooting it wearing a T-shirt and found the recoil, while noticable, to be less then expected for a relatively lightweight 30-06.
I compared a number of stainless/synthetic rifles at Cabelas and some other local gun stores prior to buying. These included the Sako 85 Finnlight (too expensive, but very nice), Browning X-bolt, Tikka, Savage Weather Warrior, Remington XCR and Ruger. I liked the M70 best of the $700-1000 or so rifles. I have LOP issues with all of them. They are all great rifles though. It was hard to get excited about the Tikka, however, after playing with the Sako 85 first.
I plan to use it in late November and early December for black bear if Midwayusa ever sends me the Hornady 165gr Interbonds I ordered. I'm also hoping that 165gr SSTs shoot to the same POI as the 165gr Interbonds so I can use it as my foul weather deer rifle as well.
