How much would you pay for a model 66, with a 3" barrel in excellent condition and without the lock. It does not come with the manual or box.

I know someone that is selling one and I was thinking about buying it but I think he is asking to much for it at $495. It might be worth it but the price just doesn't make me want to jump on it.

For a 3" model, that price may be pretty attractive, actually. The 3" model is fairly uncommon and commands a stiff premium.

For comparison, and assuming the normally high grade in which one usually finds stainless guns, typical prices might be:

4" : $425
2.5" : $500

A 3" gun would trade at a premium to the 2.5", perhaps 20 to 50% even. Double check the actual barrel length by measuring from the front of the cylinder (not the frame) to the edge of the muzzle.

If the gun is in good condition, that is an excellent price. They typically sell in the $600-$700 range.

Wow! I feel a lot better about my no dash, 4 in. 66 at $380. I guess I'll look for some fancy grips to make it more expensive.

Check to make sure that 3" barrel is original to the gun. If it is, it sounds like a very good price.

Excellent price, I'd buy that gun in a nanosecond. The more common 2.5" model sells for $550 in my area, at best. The 3" barrel adds at least a $100 premium.

A great deal my friend, lucky you!

If he still has it I am going to look at it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

I've always wanted one in a 4-inch barrel, counterbored chambers and a pinned barrrel. Don't have much use for shorter or longer tubes, as I'd prefer a Ruger Speed-Six or a Security-Six in the 6-inch. But that 4-inch 66 is one handsome pistol! I'm also very fond of the 80s-era Model 13 and 19 revolvers.

The 3-inchers should have the full-length ejector rods, though, and are a great size and weight.

As I mentioned above and Colt Smith reiterated, check the length. Non-revolver guys often mis-measure the barrel and understate it by an inch. I have looked at several guns over the years I was told were "3 inch for sure" to find they were mis-measured 4" guns. If it is a 4", and it's still of interest to you, try to pay about $400, and only if it has the original grips - deduct $25 to $40 if it does not.

It wasn't a 66 it is a model 13-3 and it is a 3" barrel.

The 13-3 3" is an EXCELLENT concealed carry revolver......next to the 3" 66 possibly the best CCW revolver made. The 3" 13 was THE FBI revolver in the 80's.

Thats a good price on a superb revolver. Buy it, shoot it, love it!

If you don't please PM me the shops contact info. I could use another nice 3" 13. TJ

I just was lucky enough to find a 3" Model 13 LNIB at a gun show
I was able to get $25.00 off so got it for $425.00 it had never been fired and it had the original receipt from 1982
I felt very lucky as I have always wanted one, you know FBI and all.
To be honest I doubt I will every shoot it, but I might, I just don't see much purpose as I like to carry a 38 Special snubby or a 380 of some sort and I have several flavors of each.
But if I was ever wanted to open carry I think it would be perfect.
