I've decided to keep this and shoot it, but I've never had it apart to clean, what is the screw on the left side where the wedge is? do I need to remove it or just leave it alone and tap the wedge out?
My instructions are very vague.

The screw is there to keep the wedge from getting lost. No need to remove it.

So just leave it tight and tap the wedge until it touches the screw?

On the original Colts, the wedge screw acted as a depth check or set, to keep the wedge from being pushed in too far (and from it falling out, too). If you can get the wedge out without removing the screw, do it (some of my guns require the screw to be removed).
