It's a replica of a Colt revolver manufactured by Armi San Marco in Italy. Is safe ONLY with black powder. Value is probably around $200-250 depending on condition. See new ones at Cimarron or Buffalo Arms (google for webpage). What exactly do you want to know?

The letters AC in the box means that it was proofed in 1977.
The "pn with a star above it" is the black powder proofhouse stamping.
"...manufactured by Armi San Marco in Italy..." That's not a bad thing. Firearms have been made in Brescia for a very long time. A lot of U.S. sold BP firearms were made there.
"...not a cowboy hat..." U.S. Cavalry. Not the same thing.
"...w.l.rmsby sc n.y..." Old importer. No collector value.

W.L. Ormsby was the engraver who did the first engraved scenes on the cylinders of Colt's BP revolvers, so the modern reproductions include those scenes to make them look as original as possible. The scene with Cavalry and Indians came from the 3rd Model Dragoon.

The U.S.M.R. found on the cylinder stands for United States Mounted Rifles.
