I'm at work, so I cant listen to the trailer (I'll watch it again when I get off), but from what I saw, its either gonna kick a whole lot of ***, or suck a whole lot. There is no in-between.

I heard they were making another one, which is a good thing. The one with Dolph pretty much sucked IMO.

I fear that this one's not going to be any better than Dolph's version...

Anyone else see some irony in having a movie about a vigilante who hunts down criminals opening up the day after IRS screwing day? :)

If nothing else, it's got guns, car chases, and explosions. That in itself makes it worth seeing haha.

One positive artistic license already: Frank Castle isn't wearing white boots and gloves as did the panel drawn character.
I read The Punisher when I was younger, and perhaps the series had a developmental effect on my lack of compassion for criminals.:D
My favorite Punisher exchange--paraphrased after all these years but emblematic of the tone of the series:
Frank is on a rooftop in Hell's Kitchen with a perp held aloft over his head. IIRC, the perp is a murderer or a rapist that Frank has caught and has already done the obligatory roughing up of before picking him up and carrying him to the edge of the roof.
Perp: "Hey man, HEY MAN!! YOU AREN'T GONNA DO THIS!! YOU CAN'T DO THIS!! WHADDABOUT MY RIGHTS!!!"
Frank: "You have the right to free speech. Feel free to scream all the way down."
Frank then nonchalantly chucks him off.
There is no way that the movie is going to be anywhere near as anti-PC as the comic book. There is just zero chance.

I read a lot of Punisher as a kid. Hmm... That kind of explains a lot of stuff. :) Gun related? I don't think that there has ever been a more gun related comic than the Punisher.
I for one am looking forward to this. If they screw it up I'm going to be bummed.

Frank Castle was the comic version of Mack Bolan, suitably toned down for a younger generation. Unfortunately, both series became abysmal later in life. Every so often, I pick up a Punisher comic. Apparently, he committed suicide, and was brought back to life to atone for his sins. WTH?

You know, the whole "bring your favorite childhood comics to the bigscreen" gets me excited "Hulk, Spiderman, Daredevil, Punisher" etc.. but please don't screw it up and use someone like Ben Afflick.. Goodness.. I use to LIKE daredevil...
They need to show respect to the MEN (yes, mostly men) who read the comics and keep to the original stories and story characters..

The Punisher did not always wear white boots and gloves. Early in the comic he wore OD BDU pants, combat boots, and black body armor with the skull on it. He didn't wear gloves, but IIRC had some sort of sharpened fingernails he used to open wooden crates, etc. The change in costume happened as the comic aged and became, well, more comic booky.
One of these days I'll have to drag out my Punisher #2 and read it again. I also liked "The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe." The entire comic is just what the title says. Nick Castles family is killed by a super-hero battle so he takes it upon himself to kill all superheros and villians. The X-men, the Avengers, Dr. Doom, everyone...
