Anybody got a Refinished Argentine Hi power from SOG? If so how are they? Thinking about getting one lately. Sould I buy or pass?

Pass. SOG is charging $299 + shipping plus your FFL fee. I don't know what your FFL charges but you are probably talking at least $325 out the door for one of these. Save you money and for $0-300 more, get the real thing. I have seen nice BHPs sell for $299 but it is rare. Watch the auctions and check you local dealers to see what is new.

They are well made guns but if you are like me, you will soon be thinking that you want a BHP and then you wil have to sell the FM to pay for it and you will lose money on that deal because no one is going to give you more that $325 for a FM HP.

I dunno - I bought one to see if I liked the hi-power pattern for not too much $$$.

A real Browning or FN is going to set you back $500 minimum, probably a lot more.

I like my FM, although I'm still trying to fix its extraction problem (waiting for a punch set I ordered so i can clean the extractor channel)

I bought a brand new FM in 86 when I was a starving and broke college freshman. At the time I HAD to have an HP and the FM was a better deal for my wallet. I was infatuated with the 9mm at the time. Seventeen years later I have fed several thousand rounds through that FM and it's always been very reliable. It isn't pretty ( mil spec - tool marks) but it works and it is now like one's old dog. The only thing I've done to it is replace the plastic grips with Houges.
