I'm considering a used semiautomatic from KY Imports (kyimports.com) and was wondering if anyone has experience (good, bad, whatever) in dealing with this firm. They seemed fine on the phone but actual real-life information would be helpfl. Thanks in advance.

After seeing a used trade-in from KY Imports, I purchased a 6906 from them. The outside frame and grip had a bump here or there, but the internals were pristine and shiney. I'd guess it had no more than 2000 rounds through it. I was set to buy another from them, a 6946, when a trade opportunity with a coworker dropped on in my lap. I would order from them again. When on the phone ordering, they were curteous, informative with all my questions (first time ordering a gun this way), and the pistol arrived in 2 days just as it was described to me. Overall I was pretty happy, a reflection of the experience my buddy had. Hope this helps, Mike

My response is from several years of reading responses on various boards.
1. If you get the right order the first time you are set.
2. If you have to deal with follow-up customer service you may be SOL.

For what it's worth. I've purchased ammo from them but never weapons. I don't think the company is anything special but they've never made me mad either. CDNN carries a lot of the same trade-ins for a little less money. I've had slightly friendlier but not any better service from CDNN. I've never bought weapons from CDNN either.

KY Imports is a good company.
But Kiesler's is better. In fact Kieslers sells a LOT of stuff to KY Imports.

Kiesler's has been in business for over 25 years and is a class act. As one of the country's largest police distributors they get most of their trade-ins directly from the departments they are selling new stuff to.

Might as well deal with the source.

I purchased 2 new magazines (for a Grendel P-12) from them and they were both 100% reliable.

I've gotten several pistols from KY Imports in the past few years ( I got a Star BM from them last week ) and I've always gotten good products and good service from them .

I bought a Kimber Classic Gold Match from them for a really good price back in 1999. Gun was exactly as described (new, in box) and they shipped quickly, etc. Good experience with them.
