been searching and still a bit confused.

am i wrong in concluding that ambi 1911 safeties of purty much any brand and style generally are the quickest part on a 1911 that will require service?

Does one actually expect this to be probably the first part on the gun to fail or need adjusting/tightening?

I understand that lefties are harder on an ambi safety.....suposedly.

The joint where the two halves join usually works loose eventually.

There are two basic styles, the "Colt" where you replace the sear pin with a special one that retains the right side half, and the "Wilson" where a slot in the grips is cut to retain the right side part that has a tab that slips into the slot under the grip.

I prefer the Colt style, but most after market grips are cut these days so the Wilson safety is likely a drop in if you are replacing the grips and has the virture of not needing to replace the sear pin (no big deal to do).
