Since my thread about Sheryl Crow and her "45" is closed, I'm writing this as a new thread. Several of you good folks corrected me, informing me that she was referring to her 45rpm records, not a .45 cal. gun. Please re-read the post: It's signed off "with tongue in cheek". I think we all know that Ms. Crow and hers pals absolutely hate us for owning guns. I do wonder, though, if she has an armed personal guard? Many high profile anti's do.

One of the high profile, gun grabbing congresswomen, (I can' t remember if it was Boxer or Feinstein), is adamantly opposed to citizens having carry permits.
Then she was ticked off when ithe press reported that she was one of the select few in her state that have a carry permit. :banghead: :fire:

One of the T.V. newsmen (Rather or Brokaw.....?) actually stated that he didn't see a problem with banning the Mini14, though he carried one when he rode around his ranch! :scrutiny:

Another anti-gun congressman stated that he was in favor of banning "M16 Assault weapons", then it was leaked that he kept one at his D.C. apartment, which would have been illegal for most folks.

Only the elite need guns.

Yep, Bill Hook, that was exactly the reason. The first anti-gun-laws appeared around 1650 A.D. in Italy, because the aristocracy feared the concealability of wheellock pistols. As usual, laws only affected the "untermenschen", NOT the aristocracy.

Not much development since then, even if they call our aristocracy now "politicians"!

RobW - Toyotomi Hideyoshi did the same thing in Japan, except he banned all weapons. Samurai could still have weapons, but not the commoners. That's how nunchukas, tonfas, kamas, and other martial arts weapons originated - the people had to improvise.
