Ok. Dumb question for the day.

Well, at least MY dumb question. :)

Can an inline, break action M/L (A CVA wolf to be specific) using 777 pellets and powerbelt bullets, be unloaded by removing the breach plug (unprimed of course). Is there a safety problem? sparking etc? Will the pellets drop out? Would they be undamaged or do the pellets get crushed in the act of seating the bullet? Could you then push the bullet out with a ramrod?

The last time I went deer hunting using the Pyrodex Pellet system, I did just as you stated. I clamped the barrel in my vice with wood blocks for protection and I carefully removed the breech plug. Two of three of the Pyrodex Pellets were still good, one got broken so I tossed it.

As long as you use common sense and make sure the barrel is aimed in a safe direction at all times, I see no problem removing the breech plug to "unload" an in-line muzzleloader.

After the Pyrodex Pellets fell out, the bullet and associated Sabot came out with just a bit of a strike on the rod (from the muzzle) and are ready to be loaded again.
